SELF-PAY

You may pay for each session on the date of the session by using your credit or debit card. You may also use a HSA (Health Savings Account) card if you have one. I accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  You may make the payment on the phone, here on this page or through your client portal on SimplePractice.com. If you have an insurance plan for which I am not a provider, I can send you a superbill which outlines services that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, although reimbursement is not guaranteed.

INSURANCE

I can bill your health insurance plan if I am one of their providers. Please check with your insurance company prior to making the first visit to assure that I am an in-network provider. Please note that if I do not get reimbursed by your insurance company for billed sessions that you will be responsible for any balance for services rendered. Also understand that in order to submit claims, I am required to give you a diagnosis, some of which some companies will not cover. I have to demonstrate to the insurance company what's called "medical necessity." This means that you must have some type of physical symptom going on that would warrant treatment, e.g., panic attacks, dizziness, hyperventilation, tears, loss of sleep or appetite, etc. If I feel that a diagnosis like relationship issue or improving sexual communication will not likely be covered I will let you know this up front. Also realize that when I issue a diagnosis, that will become information that I give to the insurance company that will stay in your file for I don't know how long. You are responsible for knowing your copay at the time of service: this is usually on the front of your insurance card under PCP visit. Please know if your deductible for the year has been met before starting service, as you will be required to pay the out-of-pocket contracted rate to me which would be more than your copay. Also know if mental health benefits are available with your plan or if they've been maxed out for the year. Any of these questions can be directed to your insurance company at the number on the back of your card. Please note that I do not accept Medicaid, Medicare or other state or government-issued health plans.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (EAPs)

Some employers offer their employees a number of free counseling sessions which they reimburse in full. Before opting for self-pay or insurance you should always ask your human resources department if your company uses a EAP. This short-term crisis intervention is a good start and often what some people need without continuing with extended treatment. Please know the name of your company's EAP before you call me. Please have a referral number ready if they gave you one.
